Qualifications for Application

Applicants are expected to meet the following 9 conditions

  1. Persons who fall into one of the following categories:
    • Persons affiliated to a relevant government institution (Japan: including facilities related to women)
    • Persons affiliated to NGOs concerned with improving the status of women
    • Persons affiliated to research institutes involved in women’s studies
  2. Persons recommended by the director-general of their institution of affiliation
  3. Women
  4. University graduates and persons with commensurate academic abilitys
  5. Persons with sufficient competence in English to understand the lectures
  6. Persons able to attend the entire training course
    (including the International Forum on Women’s Information on November 17th & 18th)
  7. Persons sound in body and mind
    (as VDT work has been indicated as having adverse affects on the mother’s womb, it is not desirable that pregnant women participate in this course)
  8. Persons with considerable interest in women’s issues and having the devotion to resolve them
  9. Persons with a strong interest in computer-based information processing technology

Languages to be Used

All lectures and practical sessions will be conducted in English. Interpretation will be provided for sessions conducted in Japanese.

Training Expenses

NWEC will bear the cost of return travel, accommodation and expenses incurred for the training course.

Miscellaneous

  1. Trainees are personally responsible for taking all procedures necessary for travelling to Japan.
    NWEC will send a letter of invitation and other documents needed to obtain a passport and visa. Information regarding flights to Japan, dates of arrival and departure, modes of transport and other relevant details will be sent when we notify you of our decision.
  2. Trainees may not be accompanied by family members.
  3. Trainees must remain in Japan throughout the training period.
  4. Trainees must return to their countries immediately after completion of the training course.
